Why qwerty?
"typographic poster answering the question above”
The reason dates back to the time of manual typewriters. They had keys arranged in alphabetical order when first invented, but people typed so fast that the mechanical character arms got tangled up. So the keys were randomly positioned to slow down typing and prevent key jams. The QWERTY keyboards were made so one could type using keys from the top row of the keyboard. This random arrangement became standard.

Linking this project to my final major project, I decided to further this research and specify a target audience of people with ADHD and see how the qwerty keyboard affects them. Thus, for some, learning to type on a computer can be as tricky as writing with a pencil, and typing requires coordinating finger movements and memory skills. However, people with ADHD may take longer to learn to type efficiently due to the motor component, slower processing speed, and weaker working memory.
